DANGERS OF SELF MEDICATION

                               DANGERS OF SELF MEDICATION
The next time you consider self medication, I think you should ponder on these things. Does it really worth it? Putting your own health at risk? Oh yes! You put your own health at risk each time you go on self medication. I know it’s very easy to walk into a drug store to purchase an OTC drug (Over-the counter drug), probably because you’ve been doing that and it’s never had any effect on you . But do you know you may be doing yourself more harm than good. The effect may not be immediate but I tell you this act may pose serious health damage in the long run. Some drugs don’t go together, that is why you need the help of a doctor or pharmacist when making drug selection.
Drugs are substances
that when taken, can have effect on the cells, tissues, or organs of the body. Every drug contains an API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients) and excipients, the non-active ingredients. The API in a drug is what brings about the effect in your body. APIs can react together especially when you are on multiple medications, this reaction may impose a negative effect on you, such as causing damage to a tissue in your body, putting your health at risk.
MY PERSONAL ADVICE
·        Do not take a drug that is not prescribed to you by a certified doctor or pharmacist
·        Whenever you take a prescribed drug and sense a discomfort within you, ensure you complain to a doctor or pharmacist. It could be that the API in that drug doesn’t tally with your body system.
·        Ensure to read the leaflet inside your purchased drug pack. Most of us neglect this. The leaflet contains instructions, put down by the manufacturer that should be followed.

SAY NO TO SELF MEDICATION!!!
